ASHENEWS reports that the Niger state governor, Mohammed Umaru Bago has appealed to the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) to remain undaunted in its fight against insecurity in the state.
Bago stated this when he paid a condolence visit to the Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Hassan Bala Abubakar at the Nigerian Air Force Headquarters, Abuja.
Bago, while empathizing with the NAF over the recent helicopter crash in Chukuba, in the Shiroro local government area of Niger state said that the government was ready to see to the welfare of all NAF personnel posted to the area.
“He said the deployment of the Air Force personnel would help in having a more rapid response to any security threat.
“Governor Umaru Bago who described the helicopter crash as sympathetic, appreciated the efforts of the Nigerian Air Force in containing activities of terrorists and other criminal elements in the State.
“Governor Bago assured the Nigerian Air Force of the State Government’s commitment to providing all the needed support saying, the Government is ready to provide accommodation and other facilities for personnel,” a statement by the governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Bologi Ibrahim added.
On his part, the Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Hassan Bala Abubakar assured the governor that the NAF remains undaunted despite the recent incident involving its personnel.
He urged the Niger state government to strengthen its resolve and efforts at ending the insecurity in the area.
He further charged residents to support security agencies with information that would help in tackling the menace of insecurity in the area.
