Gov. Mohammed Umaru-Bago of Niger has ordered the immediate repair of buildings damaged by a windstorm at the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) Orientation Camp in Paiko, Paikoro Local Government Area.
The governor issued the directive in a statement released by his Chief Press Secretary, Bologi Ibrahim, on Sunday night in Minna.
Describing the incident as unfortunate and worrisome, Umaru-Bago noted that it created an unpleasant situation for both corps members and camp officials.

He emphasized that prompt repairs would help restore normal operations at the orientation camp.
Umaru-Bago commended an assessment team—including state government officials, the NYSC Director-General Brig.-Gen. Olakunle Oluseye Nafiu, and State Coordinator Mrs. Martina Shuaibu-Ibrahim—for quickly arranging classrooms at a nearby secondary school as temporary accommodation.
The governor also reassured the NYSC of his continued support to ensure the safety and well-being of all corps members serving in the state.
The windstorm damaged male corps members’ hostels, the multipurpose hall, kitchen, staff quarters, and parts of the state coordinator’s residence.
No casualties were reported.
