The Governor stated that the gesture was to encourage the Corps members to be diligent during their service year in the state.

“I was told that there are 1,600 Corp members for this batch. I am crediting each of your accounts with N200,000.

‘This will enable you to be comfortable to stay in Niger state. This is to show you that there is prosperity in Niger state.

“I will do my best to ensure that Corpers enjoy serving in Niger state,” the governor said.

The announcement of the bonus was greeted with loud cheers and applause by the Corps members.

The Governor also announced automatic employment for Corps members in the medical and health field saying that there are also opportunities available for the Corps members who want to go into agriculture as they can earn as much as N500,000 monthly.

For the welfare of the Corp members in camp, Bago approved 20 cows and one trailer load of rice while he gave orders for the building of more toilets and drilling of five additional boreholes in the temporary camp to take care of their hygiene and sanitation.

The Director General of the National Youth Service Corps, Brigadier-General Yusha’u Ahmed applauded the bonus given by the Niger state Governor to the Corp members.
