A teenager from Minna, Lerit Kopji, has taken a bold step into Nigeria’s literary scene with the launch of her debut novel, Crumbled Height, a gripping story woven around injustice, betrayal, hard work, and resilience in the security sector.
Speaking at the book launch in Minna, Lerit revealed that her inspiration came from the need to encourage fairness and truth in investigations within the security system.
She hopes the book will serve as a resource to prevent innocent people from being punished for crimes they did not commit.
“When I first had the idea, people laughed at me. But I refused to be discouraged because I knew this book could help the nation,” Lerit said. “Crumbled Height shows that evil’s victory over good is always temporary, and victims must never give up on goodness and divine justice.”

The reviewer, Ayuba Yilgakha, described the book as a powerful story about hope, courage, and determination, praising Lerit’s ability to address such profound themes at a young age.
He urged parents to support their children’s talents. “What Lerit has done is inspiring,” he said. “It proves that irrespective of gender, everyone has the opportunity to make a difference.”
Her father, Bitrus Kopji, expressed pride and surprise at her achievement. “I didn’t know she could write something this insightful,” he said. “When I read the manuscript, I knew the world had to see it. I helped her type, edit, and find a publisher.”
He encouraged parents to observe and nurture their children’s creative abilities.
Dr. Zainab Ndanusa, Executive Director of Razeema Consult, the publishing house behind Crumbled Height, admitted they initially hesitated due to the weighty themes the young author chose.
“We wondered why a teenager from a quiet city like Minna would focus on betrayal and its impact on society instead of lighter themes,” she said. “But after speaking to her, we saw the depth of her vision and decided to support her.”
Ndanusa added that the story’s exploration of betrayal, resentment, and greed resonates with realities in today’s world. “It’s rare for someone her age to tackle such complex issues, but it shows she’s ready to engage with the truths of the world she’s stepping into.”
With Crumbled Height, Lerit Kopji joins the growing list of young Nigerian authors using literature to challenge injustice and inspire resilience, proving that age is no barrier to making a meaningful impact.
