ASHENEWS reports that the Niger state governor, Mohammed Umaru Bago says the state government would soon commence the payment of compensation to people affected by the proposed expansion and dualization of the Minna-Bida road.
Bago stated this when he met with officials of the Islamic Development Bank and the Abu Dhabi Fund for Development in Abuja.
The governor disclosed that the Niger state government has secured approval to access N3.5 billion meant for thecompensation.
Projecting the completion of the project by 2027, Bago noted that the road upgrades would help in addressing infrastructural deficiencies.
According to him, the state government has identified 28 roads spanning 803km for reconstruction.
Bago equally sought collaboration with the duo in the area of agriculture to enhance food security.
“It is our intention to make agriculture a priority so there is a need to use this landmass and size to our advantage. We can’t do it alone,” he appealed.
On his part, the Operations Lead Manager for the Minna-Bida road project, Alagi Basiru Gaye, reassured the state government that the project would be completed on the approved timeline without compromising on quality.
