ASHENEWS reports that the granddaughter of former South Africa President, Zoleka Mandela is dead.
The Mandela Family confirmed her death on Tuesday morning in a press statement signed by the family Spokesperson, Zwelabo Mandela.
Zoleka was the granddaughter of Nelson Mandela and Nomzamo Nobandla Winnie Madikizela-Mandela.
According to the family, Zoleka was admitted into the hospital for ongoing treatment for metastatic cancer on the hip, liver, lung, pelvis, brain and spinal cord.
“Recent scans revealed signiicant disease progression including fibrosis in the lungs as well as several emboli.
“Zoleka passed away on the evening of Monday, September 25th surrounded by friends and family.
Our sincerest gratitude to the medical team that took care of her”, the statement read.
Zoleka was a writer and an activist for road safety, sexual abuse and drugs abuse.
In 2010, Zoleka Mandela’s 13-year-old daughter, Zenani was killed in a car crash on the way home from a concert. At the time, Zoleka Mandela was recovering from a suicide attempt.
Mandela published her autobiography in 2013.
