A 41-year-old man, Promise Iwuagwu, was on Thursday arraigned in Lagos State for attempted murder of a woman who he stabbed on the head.
Iwuagwu, who has no fixed address, appeared before a Sabo-Yaba Chief Magistrates’ Court.
He however, pleaded not guilty.
The prosecutor, ASP Rita Momah, told the court that Iwuagwu committed the offence on March 16 at No. 32, Abiola Oladiya Street, Oreyo lgbogbo, Ikorodu, Lagos,
Momah alleged that Iwuagwu stabbed one Miss Patience Charles with a machete on the back of her head.
She said that the offence contravened Section 230 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
Section 230 provides for life imprisonment for attempted murder.
The Chief Magistrate, Mrs Adeola Olatubosun, granted Iwuagwu bail in the sum of N500,000 with two sureties in like sum.
She ordered that the sureties must show evidence of three years’ tax payment to Lagos State Government and have their addresses verified by the court.
Olatubosun adjourned the case until April 26 for mention.
