The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Ogun Command, has confirmed that three persons died while one other was injured in a crash involving a Lexus Jeep and a Boxer motorcycle along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway on Sunday.
The FRSC Sector Commander, Oludare Ogunjobi, confirmed the incident in a statement signed by the Command’s Spokesperson, Mr Odunsi Afolabi, in Abeokuta.
Afolabi said the accident, which involved eight male adults, occurred at about 1:04 p.m. at the Oniworo area of the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.
He added that the crash involved a blue Lexus Jeep with registration number GGE 18 JV and a black Boxer motorcycle with no registration number.
Afolabi stated that three persons lost their lives in the crash, while one sustained injuries.
“The corpses of the deceased have been deposited at FOS Morgue, Opara, while the injured survivor was taken to Victory Hospital, Ogere, for treatment,” he said.
Afolabi attributed the cause of the crash to speeding and burst tyre.
He noted that obstructions had been cleared by the FRSC Ogunmakin Unit to restore traffic flow, while the vehicles were moved to MTD Alapako Police Station for further investigation.
Afolabi quoted the Sector Commander as extending condolences to the families of the deceased and praying that God would grant them the fortitude to bear the loss.
He advised all motorists to strictly adhere to speed limits and ensure their tyres are in good condition before embarking on any journey.
