The Lagos State House of Assembly passed 140 bills, 120 resolutions and several regulations in the last four years of the outgoing ninth assembly.
The Speaker, Mr Mudashiru Obasa, made this known in his valedictory speech to mark the end of the ninth assembly at Alausa on Friday.
Obasa (APC-Agege I) said the bills brought about remarkable legislative improvement and service delivery to the state assembly and greatly improved the quality of life in the state.
The speaker said he was proud and confident to say the house was able to persevere and improve on the quality of life of the people of Lagos through people-oriented bills, which became laws.
He said: “Distinguished colleagues, in the past four years, we have diligently served the people of Lagos state, tirelessly worked toward its betterment, shared common goals, aspirations and determination.
“We have deliberated on crucial legislation, policies and held the executive accountable; all with utmost dedication and commitment to the principles of democracy.
“It is with great satisfaction that I can say we have made a significant impact on the lives of our constituents.
“Throughout our tenure, we have witnessed the transformational progress of Lagos state. We have seen monumental infrastructural renewal, implementation of innovative programmes, and the upliftment of our communities in all 40 constituencies.
‘We have worked tirelessly to ensure that our laws reflect the needs and aspirations of the people of our state and to foster an environment that encourages growth, development, and inclusivity.”
Obasa said all these achievements had made the assembly to pride itself as above common standards of excellence.
According to him, in spite of the constraints experienced during the COVID-19 era, the house collectively resolved to sustain good governance through robust legislative agenda.
