ASHENEWS reports that the Kebbi state government says it has awarded an N3.8 billion contract for the rehabilitation of township roads in Yauri emirate in the state.

This is contained in a statement issued on Monday by the Special Adviser (SA) to Kebbi State Governor on Media and Publicity, Yahaya Sarki.

Sarki said that the Commissioner for Works and Transport, Abdullahi Umar-Faruk, disclosed in Birnin Kebbi on Monday at the signing of a contract agreement with a Chinese Construction Company, China Zhounghou Nigeria Limited.

“The project was in line with the urban renewal program of Comrade Dr. Nasir Idris Kauran Gwandu that will give a face-lift to the State capital Birnin Kebbi,  the four Emirate Headquarters, and the 21 local Government Headquarters.

“The contract is for the rehabilitation of Yauri township roads, which entails the rehabilitation and reconstruction of four number- roads, local government Dawanau junction, market road about – Tashar Garkuwa, Garkan Dudu- Liberia junction and police station – Union Bank at the total cost of N3.8 billion,” he said.

According to him, the contract covers a distance of about 5.2 kilometers in total area.

Umar-Faruk recalled that Governor Nasir Idris awarded the rehabilitation and reconstruction of city center roads in Binrin Kebbi on July 25 worth N9 billion in fulfillment of his campaign promises.

“In August, Governor Idris performed another landmark achievement awarding the contract of completing the ultra-modern secretariat complex at the cost of N10.5 billion,” he added.

Umar-Faruk commended the governor for the confidence reposed on the Ministry to supervise the execution of the project.

“We equally wish to further assure that the Ministry would leave no stone unturned in ensuring that the highest quality of workmanship is maintained throughout the project duration of 18 months,” the commissioner assured.

On his part, the representative of the firm, Chinese Construction Company, China Zhounghou Nigeria Limited Mr. Wei Meng assured that the company would adhere to the contractual agreement and work specifications.
