ASHENEWS reports that the Kebbi state government has ordered for the release of relief materials to victims of windstorm in Zauro town in Birnin Kebbi local government area of the state.
This online platform reports that following heavy downpour on Friday night, windstorm blew-off roofs and destroyed over 100 houses.
The deputy governor, Umar Abubakar gave the directive when he was conducted round the affected houses by the representative of the District Head of Zauro, Muhammad Dikko and Special Adviser to the Governor on Special Duties, Shafi’u Abubakar Zauro.
The relief materials, which include roofing sheets, cement and other items, are to enable the victims repair the houses and resettle, immediately.
Abubakar, who sympathized with victims on behalf of the state governor, Dr. Nasir Idris over the incidence, also directed the State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) to hasten the assessment of the affected houses and provide support within 24 hours in order to cushion their hardship.
Also speaking to newsmen, the representative of District Head of Zauro, thanked the Deputy Governor, the Secretary to the State Government, Yakubu Bala, officials from HYPADEC and SEMA for their concern.
According to Dikko, the gesture will go a long way in cushioning the suffering of the victims.
The Deputy Governor was accompanied to the sympathy visit by Secretary to the State Government, Yakubu Bala, Special Advisers and SEMA officials among others.
