Katsina state government, under the School Improvement Grant (SIG), has disbursed N4.5 billion to the School-Based Management Committees (SBMCs) for 150 selected primary schools from across various communities.
The Committees are responsible for the utilization and management of the funds on behalf of the benefiting schools and communities, which were selected based on certain criteria, including the level of dilapidation, the number of pupils in catchment communities close to the schools, and the problem of water, sanitation, and hygiene facilities in the schools.

“We plead to well-meaning members of the community to pay keen interest in the selected schools in their communities and report any misappropriation or misuse of the resources allocated to the school-based management committee,” a government official statement said.
Governor Radda on his part admonished members of the SBMCs to ensure the judicious utilisation of the funds for the purpose for which they were disbursed.
“The state government will follow up to ensure no one or group of people mis-manages the funds for any selfish reason.”
