Kano State Commissioner of Finance, Dr. Isma’ila Aliyu Danmaraya, has called for enhanced collaboration with development partners to support an Organizational Capacity Assessment of the ministry.
He stated this during a meeting in his office with representatives of various development organizations.
Danmaraya, according to a statement by Ameen Kebeer Yassar, the Director of Public Enlightenment at the Ministry, emphasized that the objective is to identify priority areas for capacity building, as well as assess the ministry’s strengths and weaknesses.
“When I assumed office, I observed significant capacity gaps that need to be addressed to enhance our operations and overall performance,” he stated.
According to the Commissioner, the needs assessment will be followed by a strategic capacity development plan, which will form the basis for a comprehensive roadmap to transform the ministry.
Dr. Danmaraya further explained that the “system-strengthening approach” he envisions requires strong support from development partners actively working in the state.
He specifically called on organizations such as UNICEF, PLANE, PACE, the LAFIYA Project, and PropcomPlus (funded by the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office – FCDO) to support the ministry’s reform agenda.
Representatives of the development partners present at the meeting reiterated their commitment to supporting the state government—not only in building institutional capacity but also in improving the quality of life for citizens.
They also stressed the importance of fostering a closer working relationship with all arms of government and emphasized the need for proactive coordination to ensure greater impact and more efficient delivery of development goals.
