Some makeup artists in Kaduna metropolis have called on the state government to support emerging makeup artists through training and grants to help them establish thriving businesses.
The artists made the appeal during an event organized to foster unity among artists in the state.
Mardiya Muhammad, spokesperson for the artists, said the makeup business is gaining acceptance and needs support to attract more people interested in becoming makeup artists.
She noted that makeup enhances a woman’s confidence and enables meaningful contributions to nation-building.
“We urge the government to step in and support this industry, as many makeup artists struggle to afford products, especially beginners.
“This kind of enlightenment event we organized today should be held at least once a year to share ideas, advice, and address challenges among ourselves,” she said.
Muhammad advised upcoming makeup artists to stay consistent with their work and regularly upgrade their skills.
One attendee, Fadila Ado, shared her challenges as an emerging artist, saying the meeting provided her with opportunities to exchange ideas with fellow artists.
“Coming here today, I received a lot of support and advice that will improve my business,” Ado stated.
Another artist, Khadija Sani, advised beginners to be patient and resilient.
“This profession requires patience and determination to succeed,” she said.
Hafsat Mustapha praised the renewed interest among Kaduna artists to promote the profession and reiterated the need for government support to expand empowerment programs for members and grow the industry.
