The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has declared the governorship candidate of Labour Party (LP), Alex Otti as winner of the March 18 governorship election in Abia state.

He polled 175,467 votes to beat his opponents, Okey Ahiwe of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), who polled 88,529 votes, and Enyinnaya Nwafor of the Young Peoples Party (YPP), who scored 28,972.

The Returning Officer of INEC), and Vice Chancellor of the Federal University of Technology, Owerri, Prof. Nnenna Nnannaya, on Wednesday evening, declared Otti at the resumption of the final collation of governorship election results in Umuahia.
