The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has released the first batch of results for candidates who sat for the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME), announcing that 632,788 candidates who participated on the first day of the exercise can now access their scores.
The disclosure was made in a statement issued on Friday by the Board’s spokesperson, Fabian Benjamin, who noted that the released results cover candidates who wrote the examination on Thursday, April 16, 2026.
According to JAMB, candidates can check their results by sending “UTMERESULT” via SMS to 55019 or 66019 using the same phone number used during registration. However, the Board clarified that only result viewing is currently available, as the printing of result slips has not yet been enabled.
The examination body further explained that the UTME process is still ongoing nationwide, adding that more results would be released in batches as marking and processing continue.
JAMB also issued a strong warning against any attempt to manipulate or falsify results. It cautioned candidates against altering the SMS notifications received from its official platforms to misrepresent scores to parents, guardians, or the public.
Describing such actions as criminal, the Board revealed that enforcement measures are already underway. It disclosed that two candidates and one parent are currently in custody for engaging in result falsification using artificial intelligence and other electronic means.
JAMB stressed that anyone found guilty of such misconduct would face the full weight of the law, reiterating its commitment to maintaining the integrity and credibility of Nigeria’s tertiary admission process.
The Board urged all candidates to adhere strictly to official channels and uphold honesty as the examination exercise continues across the country.
