Zamfara state government has suspended the delegates conference of the state council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) scheduled to hold on Thursday this week.

A statement by the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Information, Barrister Sani Nasarawa and made available to newsmen on Monday cited insecurity as reason for the suspension.

The council election, which had earlier been scheduled to hold on 14th April, 2022, was postponed to 12th May, 2022 by the National headquarters of the NUJ.

According to the state government, which was copied to the National President of the Union, the Zamfara Commissioner of Police, the Director State Security Services and the Commandant, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), said the new date and time is not favourable due to security situation of the state and beyond.

It added that the Information Ministry was making consultations with security agencies in the state for appropriate date and time for the conduct of the election.
