The Election Situation Monitors (ESM), has commended the 1 Division of the Nigerian Army in Gusau, Zamfara state for displaying professionalism during the just concluded presidential and National Assembly, and Governorship and State Assembly elections.
This is contained in a statement by the Executive Director, Mr. Jibir Muttaka, made available to ASHENEWS on Wednesday.
According to him, the Brigade Commander, Brigadier Sani Ahmed performed wonderfully during the elections by commanding the troops without any recorded incidence.
“As against in other states where incidences killings from the control of protests, in Zamfara, the Army managed post-election protests professionally. The professional display of work ethics also resulted in curfew-free Zamfara,” Muttaka stated.
He observed that Nigerian Army had become a pride of the nation where Army-Civilian relation had improved drastically.
“The Army-Civilian relationship has drastically improved to the extent that citizens now feel free even in the sight of soldiers.
“Unlike before when the sight of soldiers was dreaded by citizens, it is common practice for citizens to interact with them,” the Executive Director added.
He said the sterling leadership qualities of Brig. Ahmed is worthy of commendation, and an encouragement.
