ASHENEWS reports that the Chairman of the Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE) Minna Branch has been honoured with the Nigeria Heroes Platinum Award by the Nigerian Youth Organisation for Leadership and Right Activation (NYOLRA).

The National Coordinator of the Non-Governmental Organization, Salihu Mohammed, said the award was a result of the recognition of his contributions to societal development.

The National Coordinator said that the group observed the works of the NSE chairman as a young engineer and his commitment to social services within the state.

“We therefore deemed it necessary for us to identify with individuals who have contributed toward such development and to award or celebrate them.”

“Our society currently does not celebrate hard work as was seen in the past. We now tend to honour decayed people who have corrupted society.

“That was why we felt the need to change the narratives, desensitise ourselves because we feel that our reward and punishment system is lacking.”

Responding, the NSE Chairman, Engr Liman Yerima expressed delight over the recognition saying “We are trying to do our best according to our training and upbringing, to bring our knowledge and experience to bear to make life more comfortable for the people.”

Similarly, the Vice Chairman of the NSE, Engr. Amina Saidu equally commended the organisation for recognising the NSE Chairman’s efforts.
