The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria, FAAN, has won the Prestigious Lateef Lawal Award for Airport Manager of the Year.
FAAN won the award at the just concluded League of Airports and Aviation Correspondents (LAAC) 25th Conference with theme: Aviation in Nigeria: Management, Policy and Regulation.
Lateef Lawal, who died in 2020, was an Aviation Correspondent and founding member of the League whose exploits span over 40 years.
The spokesperson of FAAN, Henrietta Yakubu in a statement made available to ASHENEWS on Thursday, said the award was received by the Managing Director, who was represented by the Director of Airport Operations, Captain Mukhar Muye.
Expressing gratitude, the managing director stressed that the award meant a lot especially coming from the fourth estate.
He agreed that it was not Uhuru but that FAAN under the current management has been striving for perfection to change the narrative of the old.
He said that FAAN was improving the passenger facilitation process, as well as infrastructure of the old terminal while simultaneously trying to ensure the two new international terminals come on stream to give passengers an amazing new experience.
He also said that soon the country’s international airports will be a nexus of activities as government has declared the four international airports special economic zones, stressing that it comes with huge benefits and responsibilities.
