ASHENEWS reports that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has warned the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kebbi state that its supporters were ready to withstand all intimidation, and confront anybody that attempts to subvert its victory.
The Director General of the party’s governorship Campaign Council, Abubakar Shehu Geda stated this while addressing newsmen in Birnin Kebbi on Saturday.
According to him, the party had prepared its members to withstand all forms of threats during the forthcoming supplementary election in the state, adding that “no amount of intimidation, threats and incessant arrest of PDP faithful as witnessed in recent times in the state, will stop us from turning out en mass to vote into office, the party’s candidates in the April 15 supplementary polls.
“Enough is enough. We members of PDP from top to bottom, are ready to confront anybody that attempts to subvert our victory during the forthcoming election because we have first hand information that unscrupulous elements are planning to sabotage the exercise. Certainly, we will defend our votes with our bodies and souls,” Geda said.
“At the moment, we have our members languishing in jail for no reasons. Some of our members from Yauri, Dandi, Arewa, Kalgo, Zuru among many others, were recently unlawfully arrested and detained by security apparatuses under the instructions of Kebbi State Government. We will leave no stone unturned at ensuring their unconditional release to participate in the next polls,” he further said.
He described as barbaric the recent actions by the state government that withheld salaries of civil servants at local level, on allegations that they supported the PDP.
Our reporter’s repeated calls to the Commissioner of Information and Communication Technology, Abdullahi Magoro for reaction went unanswered.
