ASHENEWS reports that the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has handed over a truck laden with vandalized railway tracks seized from yet-to-be-identified criminals in Niger State.
Comptroller Busayo Kadejo, the Area Controller of the Command, disclosed this at the command’s Headquarters in Minna while handing over the items to the Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC).
Kadeji, while speaking to journalists disclosed that the items were intercepted along the Minna- Bida road by operatives of the NCS last month.
“On the 11th of May, 2023, at about 10:30 hours, our surveillance Patrol Team intercepted one white Mitsubishi Canter Laden with the registration number SUO-51-ZY along Bida- Minna road.
“Sensing imminent danger when flagged down and fearing possible arrest, the driver and other occupants took to their heels and abandoned the vehicle,” he told journalists.
Kadejo reiterated the NCS’s commitment to partnering with sister security agencies in the interest of the country.
Speaking shortly after receiving the consignment, the Commandant of the NSCDC in the state, Mohammed Dandare said that the corps will launch an investigation after which it will prosecute anybody involved in the act.
