Following a recommendation letter by the Inspector General of Police, IGP, Usman Baba, to Police Service Commission on Saturday, the PSC on Sunday, suspended DCP Abba Kyari as a result of his indictment by the Federal Investigation Bureau, FBI, on US court’s trial of Ramon Abbas aka Hushpuppi.
Kyari’s suspension was contained in the commission’s letter to the IGP with reference, PSC/POL/D/153/vol/V/138 to the Inspector General of Police dated Sunday, August 1st, 2021 and signed by Justice Clara Ogunbiyi and Commissioner 1 who signed on behalf of the Commission’s Chairman, Musiliu Smith, who is currently on leave.
“Abba Kyari’s suspension took effect from Saturday, July 31st 2021 and would subsist pending the outcome of the investigation in respect of his indictment by the Federal Bureau of Investigation of the United States,” the commission said.
The Commission also directed the Inspector General of Police to furnish it with information on further development on the matter for necessary further action.
Kyari, until his suspension was the Head, Intelligence Response Team (IRT) of the Nigeria Police Force.
