The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Niger state has suspended its candidate for the 2019 governorship election, Umar Nasko from the party.
Nasko’s suspension was announced on Tuesday by Magama local government party officials for allegedly indulging in anti party activities.
His involvement in anti party activities was reported to have become pronounced at the just concluded bye-election for the vacant Magama/Rijau Federal constituency.
A letter addressed to the state PDP alleged that Nasko supported the candidate of the All Progressive Grand Alliance, APGA, with funds and campaign vehicles at the detriment of his party.
It also alleged that he had been antagonistic against members of the party which made majority of them to decamp to other parties.
Titled “Notice of Suspension of Umar Muhammed Nasko from the PDP, Magama local government Area, Niger state”, the letter was dated 23rd July and signed by the PDP local government chairman, Aminu Mohammed and the Assistant Secretary, Tasiu Musa.
“Nasko refused to attend party meetings and activities in Magama Local Government. He has been instigating members against themselves and causing trouble and disaffection which led other members of the party to decamp to other political parties.
“A typical example is his constant antagonism with council chairman who he fought till the chairman was forced to decamp to the rival APC. He has been instigating members against the leader of our great party (PDP) in Niger state, Dr Mu’azu Babangida Aliyu, who he disrespects and does not accord him his due respect as the former governor and leader of the party in the state”, the letter reads.
