Bauchi State government is to establish a mobile Court that will try perpetrators of Sexual and Gender Violence (SGBV) in communities.
The state governor, Bala Mohammad stated this when the Bauchi State Action Committee on SGBV paid him an advocacy visit at the government house to commemorate the 16 Days of Activism on Gender Based- Violence.
He requested the Chief Judge and the State Ministry of Justice to come up with the court for speedy dispensation of cases relating to SGBV.

“The Committee has established a Sexual Assault Referral Centre at the State Specialist Hospital which provides free medical and psychological services to survivors of SGBV.”
The centre which became operational in February 2022 has so far attended to over 200 rape cases that involves minor ages ranging from 7-12 years.
She added that a safe space has also been created for survivors, while awareness creation is ongoing in communities.
The first lady said with the rising cases of SGBV in society there was a need for a special court that will try rape cases in the state.
