The National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) on Thursday inspected key facilities at four sacred sites (Masha’ir) in Makkah — Muna, Arafat, Jamrat, and Muzdalifah — in preparation for the upcoming Hajj rites.
Dr Aliu Tanko, NAHCON team member in charge of pilgrim movement, said the inspection was meant to familiarise officials with the routes pilgrims would take.
“From Makkah, they will proceed directly to Mina. After their stay in Mina, the following night they will move to Arafat,” he said.

“This is the most important location in the entire Hajj. Whoever misses Arafat has missed the Hajj. There are many rules and regulations to observe,” he added.
Dr Tanko explained that the measures were designed to protect pilgrims’ lives.
“If everyone is allowed to move freely, they could endanger themselves due to the harsh weather. That is why they are advised to remain in their tents with good living conditions until instructed to move,” he said.
He reaffirmed NAHCON’s commitment to ensuring Nigerian pilgrims observe the Hajj rites properly and urged them to strictly obey all directives from officials for their safety.
