Abia State Governor, Alex Otti, on Monday signed the state’s 2026 Appropriation Bill of ₦1.016 trillion into law.
The signing ceremony took place at Nvosi, Isiala Ngwa South Local Government Area, where Otti pledged that the budget would be judiciously implemented to drive development across the state.
The governor assured that his administration would remain disciplined in executing the budget as approved, adding that any future adjustments would be returned to the Abia State House of Assembly for approval.
Otti commended both the executive team that prepared the budget and lawmakers for their diligence and thorough scrutiny of the bill, noting that the engagement between the two arms of government reflected democratic best practices.
He expressed satisfaction that the budget figures remained unchanged after legislative review, with capital and recurrent allocations retained, describing the document as reflective of his administration’s empowerment-driven development philosophy.
According to him, the budget prioritises creating an enabling environment for businesses while sustaining investments in health, education, environmental sanitation, and road infrastructure.
In his remarks, Speaker of the Abia State House of Assembly, Emmanuel Emeruwa, said the budget, titled “Project of Acceleration and New Possibilities,” marks a phase of accelerated development built on strong foundations.
Emeruwa pledged the continued support of the House to ensure sustained growth and prevent any form of regression in the state.
