The Association of Table Water Producers of Nigeria (ATWAP), Ogun Chapter, has appealed to government at all levels to address multiple taxes hindering the ease of doing business.
Mr Babatunde Lawal, Chairman, ATWAP, made the appeal while speaking in an interview on Monday in Ota, Ogun.
He said that the multiple taxes had been one of the major impediments affecting the ease of doing business in the state and the country at large.
“There are multiple taxes in this sector as members need to pay certain levies of taxes to various levels of government.
“Such taxes include paying to local, state and federal government, development fees, haulage fees and situational fees. All these taxes hamper the sector from actualising its potentials,” he said.
Lawal noted that businesses could only thrive and grow in an environment where barriers were tackled by the government.
He emphasised the need for the governments to support with grants and soft loans, in order for the sector to contribute its quota to nation’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP).
