ASHENEWS reports that the Niger state governor, Mohammed Umaru Bago says his administration is ready to partner with individuals in the private sector to boost the state’s agricultural sector.
Bago stated this when he met with Isah Mohammed Gerawa, the promoter of Gerawa Group of Companies, owners of the biggest Oil Milling Plant ithe n West Africa; the biggest Rice Mill in Nigeria; and one of the biggest indigenous construction Companies in Nigeria.
A statement issued by Bologi Ibrahim, the Chief Press Secretary to the governor said that Bago was accompanied by his Jigawa State counterpart, Umar Namadi during which they inspected various facilities owned by the Gerawa Group of Companies including the Oil Mill, extensive Rice Mill, and the advanced Crusher and Asphalt plant sites.
The statement added that the governor later paid a courtesy visit to the Governor of Kano State, Abba Kabir Yusuf where vital developmental issues were discussed.
This online platform reports that the Niger state governor had earlier set a target to cultivate 10,000 hectares of land in each of the 25 local government areas of the state by December 2023 as part of its long-term plans to cushion the effect of the fuel subsidy removal.
