The Nasarawa State Coordinator of President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, Dr Labaran Magaj, has commenced the distribution of Renewed Hope rice palliative to political support groups, organisations, and associations in the state.
Magaji, who is also the Secretary to the State Government, announced the commencement of the exercise during a meeting with different pro groups in Lafia on Saturday.
He expressed gratitude to the president “for always remembering Nasarawa state”, and urged the groups’ leaderships to ensure that the rice got to the grassroots, no matter how small.
According to him, the spirit behind the gift is what matters.
Magaji thanked the groups for participating in the “Thank you mega rally”, organised in honour of the president and Gov. Abdullahi Sule.
He dismissed the speculation that the rally was sponsored by the State Government, saying that no money was given by the government to share to participants in the rally.
He, however, said that the rally was sponsored by “people of like minds”, who came up with the initiative and financed the programme.
Also speaking, the Chairman, Disability Rights Commission, Mr Saleh Barde, thanked Magaji for carrying persons with disabilities along in government’s programmes and activities.
A Senior Special Assistant to the governor, Mrs Beauty Ebuh, made a case for the inclusion of more Nasarawa women groups at the national level.
She said they would ensure that the message behind the rice palliative got to the people at the grassroots.
The Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development, Yakubu Kwanta, also commended Magaji for identifying the groups and bringing them under one fold.
Kwanta urged the groups to justify the confidence reposed in them by working hard for Tinubu’s re-election.
Ashenews reports that Magaji recently received 1,200 bags of 25-kg Renewed Hope rice for distribution to pro groups in the state.
