Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq of Kwara has approved the distribution of hybrid cocoa seedlings to cocoa farmers across the state.
The state Commissioner for Agriculture and Rural Development, Alhaji Muritala Olarewaju in a statement on Tuesday in Ilorin, said the distribution of the seedlings was part of the present administration’s efforts to mitigate the impact of COVID-19 pandemic in agriculture sector in the state.
He enjoined the concerned individuals and associations to be in attendance at the flag-off of the distribution slated for Thursday in Ilorin.
Those expected at the ceremony, according to him, include Cocoa Farmers Association of Nigeria (CFAN), Cocoa Association of Nigeria (CAN), Head of Department, Agric of all the eight cocoa producing local government areas in the state.
Others are Local Governments Directors of Personnel Management and at least 5 farmers and other top government functionaries.
