The Consul General of Brazil in Lagos, Mr Ronaldo Vieira, has visited the Sarkin Fulani of Lagos and Chairman, Council of Fulani Chiefs, South-West Nigeria, Mohammed Abubakar Bambado II, to explore opportunities for cooperation in livestock and agriculture.
During the visit to the traditional ruler’s palace in Lagos on Thursday, Vieira said the engagement was aimed at strengthening cultural and economic ties between Brazil and Nigeria while identifying areas of mutual interest, particularly livestock development and modern cattle-breeding techniques.
He highlighted the possibility of using cattle semen from Brazil for artificial insemination and large-scale breeding in Nigeria, potentially allowing improved cattle production without transporting the animals physically into the country.
Other areas discussed included agricultural models and techniques, economic diversification, business development, cultural exchange and educational cooperation.
Bambado welcomed the Brazilian delegation, describing the visit as a demonstration of friendship and goodwill between the two countries. He said traditional institutions could complement diplomatic efforts by promoting people-to-people relations, cultural understanding, peace and economic cooperation, assuring Vieira that his palace remained open to partnerships founded on mutual respect and friendship.
