The Niger State Government has donated N250 million to support victims of the recent flood disaster in Maiduguri, Borno State.
According to a statement issued by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor of Niger State, Bologi Ibrahim, this humanitarian gesture was led by Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago, who headed a delegation to the state to express sympathy over the devastation that affected over two million residents.
Bago described the flood situation as “devastating and worrisome” and emphasized the need for collective support from Nigerians to help the victims.
He urged his Borno counterpart, Governor Babagana Umara Zulum, and the people of Borno to remain resilient and to continue trusting in Allah’s wisdom during these challenging times.
In addition to the financial aid, Governor Bago assured that Niger State would deploy health workers to assist with medical support if necessary, highlighting the importance of sustained efforts to restore normalcy to the affected communities in Maiduguri.
Responding to the gesture, Governor Zulum expressed his gratitude for the donation and pledged that the funds would be used effectively to support flood victims.
He commended Governor Bago for his leadership and for strengthening the relationship between the two states.
This online platform reports that the group also visited the Shehu of Borno’s palace, offering condolences and seeking royal blessings.
Special prayers were held for the victims, with wishes for healing, recovery of lost livelihoods, and the prevention of future disasters.
