The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), Yola office, led rescue and evacuation efforts after heavy flash floods hit 13 communities in Yola North and Yola South on September 16, 2025.
Fast-response teams from NEMA worked with the Adamawa State Emergency Management Agency, fire services, local emergency workers, and volunteers to search for and rescue people trapped by the flood.
They safely moved vulnerable people — including women, children, the elderly, and people with disabilities — from dangerous areas to safe shelters.
NEMA teams quickly checked the flooded areas to see how bad the damage was, what was destroyed, and what urgent help people needed.
The response was done in partnership with state and local authorities, security forces, and aid groups to make sure help arrived on time and efforts weren’t repeated.
