The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) has delivered relief materials to victims of the accidental bomb explosion that hit Gidan-Sama and Runtuwa communities in the Binji/Silame Federal Constituency of Sokoto State in 2024.
The relief items, which consisted mainly of food supplies, were handed over by the Head of NEMA’s Sokoto Operations Office, Aliyu Shehu Kafindangi, represented by the Head of the Planning Unit, Tukur Abubakar.
According to NEMA, the materials were presented to Honorable Mani Maishinko, who represents the constituency at the National Assembly. He was represented by his legislative aide, Musa Sodangi.
In a statement posted on its official X handle on Sunday, April 6, NEMA quoted Honorable Maishinko as expressing appreciation to the Federal Government and the agency for their support.
Maishinko said the intervention would help ease the suffering of residents affected by the blast.
Meanwhile, in Plateau State, NEMA stated that it is responding to the aftermath of deadly attacks by gunmen in Bokkos Local Government Area.
The attacks, which occurred between March 27 and April 2, left at least 52 people dead and displaced more than 1,800 residents across six communities—Ruwi, Hurti, Tadai, Gwande, Manguna, and Dafo.
The agency said it is working closely with the Plateau State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) and the Bokkos local government area chairman to assess the conditions in displacement camps and determine the next phase of humanitarian support.
NEMA stated that it remains committed to supporting disaster-affected communities and ensuring that relief reaches those in need across the country.
