The Emir of Argungu, Sama’ila Muhammadu Mera, is representing Kebbi State at a prestigious global conference on demographic dividends, currently underway at Wilton Park, Surrey, United Kingdom.
The conference, themed “Demographic Dividends for Africa: Actions and Investments,” has drawn influential participants from across the world to discuss strategies for leveraging Africa’s population growth through targeted investments and policies.
The Emir is attending as a representative of Traditional and Community Leaders under the Sultan Foundation Platform, with sponsorship from the Kebbi State Government.
In his remarks, the Emir described the conference as a timely opportunity to spotlight the essential roles traditional and religious leaders play in supporting and mobilising communities for national and global development initiatives.
“This platform allows us not only to share our experiences but also to learn from how other nations are responding to population challenges through improved healthcare, education, skills training, and job creation,” he said.
The Emir extended his deep appreciation to the Governor of Kebbi State, Dr. Nasir Idris, for facilitating his participation in the global forum.
“This gesture reflects the Governor’s profound respect for traditional and religious institutions and their role in nation-building,” he added.
