The Jigawa government has established a 10-member committee to review the state’s regional planning framework for urban renewal and development.
Sagir Musa, Commissioner for Information, Youth, Sports and Culture, announced this during a news conference at the conclusion of the State Executive Council (SEC) meeting on Friday in Dutse.
He explained that the decision followed a presentation by Pragmatic Solutions Consult, which outlined a strategic blueprint for land use and infrastructural development across the state.
“The plan aims to ensure quality environmental management, housing, transportation, and economic zoning to promote orderly and equitable growth throughout Jigawa,” Musa said.

The committee will be chaired by the Commissioner for Lands, with members including commissioners for Environment, Commerce, Information, Higher Education, and Health. Other members are the Director-Generals of Invest Jigawa, ICT & Digital Economy, and the Jigawa Agricultural Transformation Agenda, while the Executive Secretary of Jigawa Urban Development will serve as secretary.
Musa added that Governor Umar Namadi emphasized the importance of effective regional planning in transforming Jigawa into a modern, resilient, and economically vibrant state.
“The present administration is committed to ensuring that all urban and rural communities benefit from well-planned growth and improved living standards,” he said.
