The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) Special Marshals Zone RS2, comprising Lagos and Ogun, has emerged first in a national performance evaluation.
The zone scored 96 per cent to lead other zones in the evaluation of Special Marshals activities nationwide, according to a statement made available to reporters on Friday in Lagos.
The statement was signed by the Special Marshal (SM), Dr Olabisi O. Dennis, State Coordinator, RS2.1 Lagos Special Marshals.
RS7, comprising the Federal Capital Territory and Niger, scored 94 per cent to place second, while RS6 came third with 90 per cent.
RS5 came fourth, followed by RS12 in fifth position, RS11 in sixth, RS4 in seventh and RS3 in eighth.
The evaluation also ranked RS2.1 Lagos Special Marshals first among the state-level Special Marshal formations nationwide.
It attributed the performance of RS2 to its activities and leadership under SM (Pastor) Olusegun Akintan, Zonal Coordinator, Zone RS2.
The report also commended the leadership of SM (Dr) Olabisi O. Dennis, State Coordinator, RS2.1 Lagos Special Marshals.
According to the report, Lagos recorded one of the most extensive and diversified portfolios of activities among submissions received nationwide.
It highlighted infrastructure projects, patrol vehicle rehabilitation, equipment donations, public enlightenment campaigns and Road Safety Club initiatives.
It also cited church and school advocacy programmes, training and community-based road safety interventions among the activities recorded.
The report recognised the participation of Lagos Special Marshals, unit mobilisation, infrastructure investments, advocacy programmes and documentation of activities.
It said the achievement reflected the collective efforts of the zonal leadership, state executives, unit coordinators and Special Marshals.
The zone comprises RS2.1 Lagos, coordinated by Dennis, and RS2.2 Ogun, coordinated by SM Taiwo Salau Balogun.
It said the two states were among the top-performing formations in the national evaluation of Special Marshals activities.
