The Kano State Government is partnering with the Tony Blair Institute for Global Change to attract $23.5 million in investments and generate wealth in the energy sector.
This was stated in a press release issued by the governor’s spokesman, Bature Dawakin-Tofa, in Kano on Friday.
The Governor’s Initiative to Energize the Economy of Kano State (GEEKS) program aims to reform the energy supply and boost industrialization. Governor Yusuf praised the team for its well-articulated blueprint.
“The program focuses on strategic planning for state electricity market development, universal access to electricity for commercial and industrial activities, and electrification pathways for sustainable energy,” he said.
He added that other areas include transitioning transportation to electric-powered vehicles and promoting the productive use of renewable energy in the agriculture and health sectors.
The partnership is expected to attract millions of dollars, create over 1 million jobs within three years, and increase agricultural production by 35 per cent.
