A respected scholar, Professor Eni Kalu, has praised Senator Orji Uzor Kalu for his strong commitment to youth development, especially through major investments in education both in Nigeria and abroad.
Speaking to journalists in Abuja on Tuesday, Professor Kalu described education as “the surest path to a brighter future” and applauded the senator for always giving it priority over less important activities.
He noted that Senator Kalu’s dedication has been clear since his time as governor of Abia State up to his current role as senator for Abia North.
“Over the years, he has sponsored more than 20 young Abians to study abroad in fields like Medicine, Doctoral research, and MBA programmes. At the same time, more than 600 youths are studying in Nigerian institutions with his support,” Professor Kalu said.
The professor described these investments as genuine human capital development. “This is far better than just organizing social hangouts. Education provides the foundation for lasting growth and helps solve problems such as insecurity, poverty, and youth restiveness,” he explained.
Looking back, Professor Kalu recalled Senator Kalu’s introduction of free education during his time as governor, which gave thousands of children the chance to go to school. Now in the Senate, the senator continues to focus on education by rebuilding more than 150 schools and providing textbooks, uniforms, and school bags.
“Senator Orji Uzor Kalu has always placed education at the heart of his leadership,” Professor Kalu said. “His consistency proves his deep belief in education as the best tool for empowerment and transformation.”
He expressed confidence that the senator’s continued efforts would shape a better future for young people in Abia and across Nigeria.
“When you invest in education, you invest in the future,” he said. “Senator Kalu is not only creating opportunities for today but also building the foundation for a stronger and more prosperous Nigeria.”
