The National Library of Nigeria, Kaduna branch, in collaboration with the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), held a community outreach on Thursday to commemorate International World Book and Copyright Day.
The event, themed “Read Your Way,” welcomed teachers and students from both private and public secondary schools.
Head of Branch, Mrs. Egwuibe Martina, encouraged students to read while respecting copyright by purchasing original books and avoiding pirated copies. She emphasized the importance of transforming reading from a duty into a delight and teaching students the ethical use of Artificial Intelligence (AI).

“We are stakeholders in the educational system, and we cannot celebrate this alone. We must engage our children and teachers as partners in their educational development,” she said.
Deputy Chairman of NYCN, Mr. Zailani Musa, explained that the event aimed to motivate youths to read.
“This is a timely and amazing event. Observing the current state of our younger generation shows that we, as youth leaders, must find ways to continue hosting such initiatives. It reminds stakeholders that there are young people who still need attention in education,” he said.
The organizers also donated books to the participants’ school libraries.
