The Senate of Bayero University, Kano (BUK), has approved the expulsion of 57 students over their involvement in examination malpractice, while eight others were rusticated for various durations. Two students were exonerated, and one case was deferred for further investigation.

The decision was taken during the Senate’s 427th meeting, in line with the institution’s General Examination and Academic Regulations (GEAR) and other academic policies.

The affected students cut across various faculties, including Education, Engineering, Allied Health Sciences, Social and Management Sciences, Environmental Sciences, and the School of Postgraduate Studies.

The rusticated students will serve suspensions ranging from one to two semesters depending on the gravity of their offences, while the exonerated students were cleared of all allegations after investigations.

A special committee has been set up by the Student Behaviour Committee (SBC) to handle the deferred case.
