A primary school head teacher in Orumba South Local Government Area of Anambra State has been suspended indefinitely for permitting a political rally on school premises.
The state Commissioner for Education, Prof. Ngozi Chuma-Udeh, announced the suspension in a statement on Wednesday in Awka.
The Anambra State Ministry of Education had issued a circular on August 14 banning the use of school facilities for political, social, or religious gatherings. Prof. Chuma-Udeh said the head teacher, who oversees Community Primary School, Umunze, violated the ministry’s directive, disrupting academic activities and exposing pupils to potential risks.

“The state government is preparing to take legal action against the organisers of the rally, which disrupted learning and endangered the lives of the children,” she stated.
Earlier on Wednesday, the Chairman of Orumba South Local Government Area, Mr. Shedrack Azubuike, intervened to stop the unapproved political gathering, citing the government’s directive prohibiting such events in both public and private schools during school hours.
