The Sokoto Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture has promised to introduce new approaches towards enhancing businesses in the state.

The President, Mu’azu Maiwurno stated this on Saturday when the Chamber hosted its 2021 Annual Dinner and Launching of Almanac as well as award presentation to eminent personalities.

Those honoured included the state governor, Aminu Tambuwal; former governor, Attahiru Bafarawa; Sultan Saad Abubakar, Ummarun Kwabo, Chairman of BUA Group, Abdussamad Rabi’u; and the Permanent Secretary of SOSMEDA, Aishatu Hassan for their contributions towards economic development of the state.

According to Maiwurno, businesses in the state had committed immensely to economic development of Sokoto, stressing that SOCCIMA is poised to reposition businesses to greatness in the face of global economic gloom.

Further stressing SOCCIMA’s more attentive exploitation of areas of agriculture and mineral resources, Maiwurno said the chamber would partner to also exploit mineral resources already identified in conjunction with relevant Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) in the 23 local government areas of the state.

Governor Tambuwal who was represented by the Commissioner for Commerce and Industry, Bashir Jegawa said government is committed to partner with the business community toward improving the socio-economic activities in the state.

He advised the Chamber to pay deliberate attention to agribusinesses.

The Almanac launch netted major donations from the state government which donated N5 million; Chief Launcher, Ummarun Kwabo and his partners, N3 million; SOCCIMA members, N600,000; BUA Group, N500,000; and UBA N200,000.
