Mr Akinrinwa Igbekele, the Chairman, Okitipupa local government area of Ondo State on Tuesday presented approximately N12.9 billion 2022 budget proposal to the council.

While presenting the budget at the council’s Legislative Chamber in Okitipupa in Ondo state, the chairman assured the residents of the council that the budget would facilitate rapid development for the residents of the council.

The budget proposal was tagged: “Budget of Unity and Rehabilitation”.

Igbekele expressed optimism that residents would benefit immensely from the budget, saying it was people-oriented that would take care of capital expenditures, overhead cost and social welfare among others.

“We were given kudos by various stakeholders invited from the 13 wards of Okitipupa local government area because we implemented this year’s budget to the letter.

“I am part of the residents; I know their problems, challenges and also know how to proffer solutions in all ramifications.

“The budget proposal is a budget of unity and rehabilitation so, residents should expect rapid development and more dividends of democracy,” Igbekele said.

He regretted the wanton destruction of government property across the council area during last year’s #EndSARS protest, saying it gave the council a setback and measures would be in place against future dastardly acts.

Traditional rulers, politicians, civil servants, youths, market women among others were stakeholders present at the town hall meeting of the budget proposal.
