The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has issued final operating licences to 82 Bureau De Change (BDCs) operators under its revised regulatory framework, while warning the public against patronising unlicensed forex dealers.

According to a statement signed by the Acting Director of Corporate Communications, Hakama Sidi-Ali, the licences took effect on November 27, 2025.

The apex bank said the approvals were issued in line with the 2024 Regulatory and Supervisory Guidelines for BDC Operations in Nigeria. It also stressed that only operators published on its official website are recognised as licensed BDCs, urging Nigerians to verify the status of any BDC before conducting foreign exchange transactions.
