Former Sokoto State Governor and Senator representing Sokoto South, Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, has called for stronger and sustained security measures following renewed bandit attacks on communities in the state.
Tambuwal made the call while reacting to recent attacks on the Dangulbi community in Tureta Local Government Area, describing the violence as a painful reminder of the persistent insecurity confronting rural communities in Sokoto.
The former governor condemned the killings, destruction of property and displacement of residents, saying the continued attacks on innocent citizens were unacceptable.
He expressed sympathy with families who lost loved ones, wished those injured a speedy recovery and prayed for the safe return of persons reportedly abducted during the attacks.
Tambuwal urged security agencies to intensify operations across vulnerable communities, particularly along the Sokoto–Zamfara axis, stressing that residents deserve to live and carry out their daily activities without fear of attacks.
He also appealed to residents to remain united and continue supporting lawful efforts aimed at restoring peace, while reaffirming his commitment to initiatives that would strengthen security and safeguard lives and property across Sokoto State.
The latest attacks have renewed concerns over insecurity in parts of Sokoto, with several communities experiencing repeated assaults by armed bandits in recent months, resulting in deaths, abductions and widespread displacement of residents.
