A 60-year-old man, Romanus Nwabara, was among three persons with disabilities (PWDs) arrested by operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) for drug trafficking during interdiction operations in Anambra and Kwara states.
Based on credible intelligence, Nwabara was arrested on Wednesday, May 6, 2026, at Akpaka Forest in Onitsha, where he was found with 250 grams of skunk in retail sachets.
In a separate raid at Ogbunike area of Anambra State on Thursday, May 7, NDLEA officers arrested another PWD, 25-year-old Amos Kenneth, with 160.3 grams of Tramadol (225mg and 100mg), 80 pills of Diazepam, 38.23 grams of Exol 5, and 176.93 grams of skunk.
In Kwara State, NDLEA operatives on patrol along Bode Saadu on Friday, May 8, intercepted a commercial vehicle and arrested a PWD passenger, Usman Salisu, who was found with 6.3 kilograms of skunk concealed in a brown school bag.
In a related operation, operatives of the NDLEA’s Special Operations Unit (SOU) on Friday, May 8, raided a mansion in Lekki, Lagos, used as a stash house. They recovered 4,000 parcels of Loud — a strong strain of imported cannabis — weighing 2,326 kilograms, with a street value of over ₦5.815 billion. Also seized from the house at 36 African Lane, Lekki Phase 1, were two Mercedes-Benz buses and various designer sachets used for packaging the illicit substance.
Elsewhere, Emmanuel Osita Okeke, 38, was arrested with 129kg of skunk at Nyanya-Karu in Nasarawa State on Monday, May 4. On Friday, May 8, NDLEA operatives on patrol along the Okene-Lokoja highway in Kogi State intercepted a white J5 commuter bus heading to Abuja. A search led to the recovery of 76 jumbo bags of skunk weighing 766kg and the arrest of three suspects: Mathew Omohove, Ebuka Desmond, and Babangida Musa.

In Lagos, NDLEA officers on Wednesday, May 6, raided a makeshift skuchies production factory at Ijora Badia, where two suspects, Bose Jamiu and Gbenga Gege, were arrested. They were caught cooking cannabis and mixing it with other illicit substances. Operatives recovered 270 litres of already-produced skuchies and 106 grams of Tramadol (225mg).
Meanwhile, NDLEA Commands and formations across the country continued their War Against Drug Abuse (WADA) sensitization activities in schools, worship centres, workplaces, and communities. These included WADA enlightenment lectures at:
- Ta’al Model Secondary School, Lafia, Nasarawa State
- Federal College of Education, Ilawe-Ekiti
- Adventist Secondary Technical College, Owerrinta, Isialangwa LGA, Abia State
- Golden Anchor Secondary School, Shomolu, Lagos
- Mary Hanney Secondary School, Oron, Akwa Ibom State
- Mallam Ibrahim Islamiyya School, Rano, Kano State
- Isemi-Ile Grammar School, Kajola LGA, Oyo State
and for traditional rulers in Udi LGA, Enugu State, among others.
While commending the officers and men of the SOU as well as the Anambra, Kwara, Kogi, Nasarawa, and Lagos State Commands for the arrests and seizures, the Chairman/Chief Executive Officer of the NDLEA, Brig. Gen. Mohamed Buba Marwa (Rtd.), praised their balanced approach to drug supply reduction and WADA sensitization. He charged them and all personnel across the country to sustain the current tempo.
