The Multinational Joint Task Force (MNJTF) says two more Boko Haram terrorists, on April 13, 2024, laid down their arms and surrendered to troops of Sector 3, Monguno, Borno state, Nigeria.
The terrorists, identified as Ahmed Isiaka and Adam Muhammed, aged 18 and 17, respectively, hail from Kolloram, Kukawa local government area of Borno state.
The Chief of Military Public Information, Lieutenant Colonel Abubakar Abdullahi, in a statement, said the terrorists relinquished various items, including 250 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition, 50 rounds of 7.62mm NATO ammunition, and a 9mm PARA round, among other personal belongings.
Recall that on 26 March 2024, the MNJTF reported the surrender of two terrorist commanders. These events underscore the effectiveness of the diverse non-kinetic measures the MNJTF has implemented to promote safety and security in the Lake Chad basin region impacted by Boko Haram and other terrorist activities.

The MNJTF Abdullahi said, is committed to restoring peace and facilitating the return of normalcy to the affected region.
The Multinational Joint Task Force (MNJTF) is a combined multinational formation, comprising units, mostly military, from Benin, Cameroon, Chad, Niger, and Nigeria. It is headquartered in N’Djamena and is mandated to bring an end to the Boko Haram insurgency.
The task force was first organised as a solely Nigerian force in 1994, during the administration of Sani Abacha, to “checkmate banditry activities and to facilitate free movement” along its northern border.
In 1998 it was expanded to include units from neighbouring Chad and Niger to deal with common cross-border security issues in the Lake Chad region, with its headquarters in the town of Baga, Borno State.
Islamist groups grew and expanded their operations during the 2000s and early 2010s. Boko Haram’s insurgency began in 2009, and security forces across the region were increasingly directly challenged by jihadist militant groups.
Boko Haram and Ansaru were the most active and well-known. In April 2012, the MNJTF’s mandate was expanded to encompass counter-terrorism operations.[
