A combined team of security operatives comprising the military, police, and vigilante group has eliminated a notorious Lakurawa kingpin, Maigemu, who had long been terrorizing innocent residents in Kebbi State.

By El-Yakub Dabai, Birnin Kebbi

The Director of Security, Cabinet Office, Birnin Kebbi, AbdulRahman Usman Zagga, disclosed this to newsmen on Friday, stating that Maigemu was neutralized on Thursday following a fierce gun battle between the operatives and the criminals at Kuncin Baba in Arewa Local Government Area—an area known for its challenging terrain.

He noted that the breakthrough came just a week after Kebbi State Governor, Comrade Dr. Nasir Idris, Kauran Gwandu, visited Bagiza and Rausa Kade communities in Arewa Local Government to commiserate with residents over the killing of six people by suspected Lakurawa cattle rustlers.

“During the Governor’s visit, he assured the affected communities of immediate security reinforcements and strategic measures to combat criminal activities in the area. Today, his proactive approach has yielded results with the elimination of this kingpin. His corpse is available as evidence,” Zagga stated.

He commended Governor Idris for his commitment to security and the continuous logistical support provided to security personnel, particularly those involved in special operations.

The Director further urged residents to cooperate with security agencies by sharing intelligence and reporting suspicious activities to ensure swift security interventions that would lead to lasting peace in the state.
